The key terms of asset management and savings, explained simply.

Ex-ante volatility

Ex-ante volatility is an estimate of future fluctuations in the value of a portfolio over a given time horizon. Calculated using a risk model that takes into account the characteristics, weightings, and correlations of the assets held, it provides an indication of the anticipated level of risk. The higher the ex-ante volatility, the greater the potential fluctuations in the portfolio’s value.
